Hang the Lights

After you’ve fluffed the branches ( very important for artificial trees) the first step is to hang the lights. We chose lights to match our tree so as its green we have white lights based on a green wire that way the wire is hidden. Start at the top and work your way down. Illuminating your Christmas tree from the inside out will give it the most dynamic look.

Hang the Garland

Choose your colour scheme. Reds, greens and golds fit a traditional-style for Christmas. For a winter look, pick silver, blues and purples. Its best to hang the garland before the baubles so you dont knock them off.  Beads, ribbon and foil garland add texture to your tree.  You’ll need two strands of garland for every vertical foot of tree.

The best bit!! When hanging baubles, start from the inside of your tree and work out. Begin with plain-coloured baubles as a base, adding in more decorative, expensive baubles later.

Hang the larger baubles/tree decorations closer to the centre of the tree to give it more depth.  Use smaller baubles towards the ends of the branches and the top. Spread them evenly and use a variety of shapes and sizes.

Tip: A bit of ornament OCD, try to space your colours out.  I can’t have the same colour baubles together.

Don’t forget your tree topper and most importantly… enjoy the festive season x
